THE distribution of income has always been a hotly debated subject. Whatever has happened or is happening to the distribution of income, some people will always assert that the rich are getting a bigger share of the pie than is “fair,” while others will seek to show that this is not the ease. Few people, however, bother to find out the facts and fewer still understand what they mean.
