SLAVKO Splichal is a “professor of mass communications and public opinion” at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia. He tells us in the Preface to his Public Opinion: Developments and Controversies in the Twentieth Century † that he “started to write this book bilingually, in Slovene and English.” When this approach proved “too demanding,” however, he “wrote more than half of the original version partly in Slovene and partly in English.” Perhaps it is easier to follow the works he has written entirely in English.
