Thanks to the intervention of the federal judiciary, civil liberties have been restored to the Iowa penitentiary system: the chief judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Iowa has held unconstitutional a state regulation permitting prison officials to keep certain pornographic magazines out of their domain.
